Publication Ethics

The following statements are based on Elsevier recommendations and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Vistar Tech Journal and its publisher, PT Vistar Indonesia Gemilang, strictly follow the ethical standards and publication principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all necessary actions to prevent any form of publication malpractice. Authors who submit manuscripts to Vistar Tech Journal affirm that their work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration for publication in any other journal. Authors also confirm that the manuscript is their own work, free from plagiarism, and that all potential conflicts of interest have been properly disclosed.

DUTIES OF EDITORS

Decision on the Publication of Articles
The Editor-in-Chief of Vistar Tech Journal is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published. The Editor-in-Chief may be guided by the journal’s editorial policies and subject to legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The Editor-in-Chief may consult other editors or reviewers in making the final decision.

Review of Manuscripts
The Editor-in-Chief ensures that each submitted manuscript is initially evaluated by an editor or co-editor, who may use appropriate plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin) to verify originality. Manuscripts passing this stage are then forwarded to at least two independent reviewers for double-blind peer review, where both author and reviewer identities remain anonymous. Each reviewer provides recommendations to accept, revise, or reject the manuscript based on academic quality and contribution.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author’s written consent.

Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely based on intellectual merit, without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher.

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

Promptness
If a reviewer feels unqualified to review a manuscript or is unable to complete the review within the specified timeframe, they must inform the editor immediately so that alternative reviewers can be assigned.

Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown or discussed with others except with the editor’s permission.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively and fairly, without personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should provide clear, constructive comments supported by sound reasoning.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript and other published works must be reported to the editor.

Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or financial relationships with any of the authors, institutions, or entities related to the manuscript.

DUTIES OF AUTHORS

Reporting Standards
Authors should present an accurate and objective account of their research work and discuss its significance clearly. Fabrication or falsification of data constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention
Authors may be required to provide raw data for editorial review and must retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure their work is entirely original. If the authors use work or words of others, proper citation and acknowledgment are mandatory.

Multiple or Redundant Publications
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting the same research to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors must cite relevant publications that have significantly influenced their research.

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All contributors who meet these criteria must be listed as co-authors.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their results. All funding sources should be properly acknowledged.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When an author discovers a significant error in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

Vistar Tech Journal and PT Vistar Indonesia Gemilang strictly prohibit all forms of plagiarism. Plagiarism is a severe violation of academic ethics and will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines. Any instance of plagiarism detected in submitted or published papers will result in immediate action, which may include manuscript rejection or retraction. The journal continuously upholds transparency, integrity, and professional conduct by seeking advice from the editorial and reviewer boards to prevent any form of unethical publication practices.
