Publication Ethics


The following statements are based on the recommendations of Elsevier and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Vistar Islamica Journal, published by PT Vistar Indonesia Gemilang, is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and strictly adheres to the principles set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal takes all reasonable measures to prevent publication malpractice. Authors submitting manuscripts to Vistar Islamica Journal affirm that their work is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors also confirm that the manuscript is free from plagiarism, either in whole or in part, and that all potential conflicts of interest have been fully disclosed.


Duties of Editors

Decision on the Publication of Articles

The Editor-in-Chief of Vistar Islamica Journal is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published. This decision is guided by the journal’s editorial policies and legal requirements related to defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The Editor-in-Chief may consult with editorial board members or reviewers when making publication decisions.

Review of Manuscripts

Each manuscript submitted to Vistar Islamica Journal is initially evaluated by the editor or co-editor, including originality checks using appropriate plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers through a double-blind peer-review process. Review duration may vary depending on the quality and complexity of the manuscript.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used by editors or reviewers for their own research without the written consent of the authors.

Fair Play

Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political beliefs.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must ensure that all information related to submitted manuscripts is kept confidential and disclosed only to those directly involved in the editorial and review process.


Duties of Reviewers

Promptness

Reviewers who are unable to complete the review within the agreed timeframe should notify the editor promptly so that alternative reviewers can be assigned.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear and constructive feedback, and without personal criticism of the authors.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and notify the editor of any significant similarity or overlap between the reviewed manuscript and other published works.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or affiliated institutions.


Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate and objective account of their research and its significance. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data constitutes unethical behavior.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be required to provide raw data for editorial review and should retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original. Proper citation is required for the use of ideas, data, or words of others.

Multiple or Redundant Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate publication is considered unethical.

Acknowledgment of Sources

All sources that have influenced the research must be properly cited and acknowledged.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their research. All sources of funding must be clearly acknowledged.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.


Vistar Islamica Journal and PT Vistar Indonesia Gemilang maintain a strict policy against all forms of plagiarism. Plagiarism is considered a serious violation of academic and ethical standards. Any detected or reported cases of plagiarism will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines. The editorial board continuously works with reviewers and subject experts to ensure compliance with the highest standards of ethical publishing.
